L’histoire du projet

Un jour j’ai pris un carnet Moleskine. J’ai tiré un trait à travers. J’ai ensuite réfléchi ce que je pouvais faire avec, ce qu’il pouvait représenter. Rapidement, j’y voyais la surface de l’eau. J’ai rajouté un surfeur et j’ai souris. En une ligne et un petit bonhomme, le dessin se tenait. Minimaliste. Ca me plaisait. Alors j’ai dessiné une deuxième page, puis une troisième, une quatrième et finalement je suis arrivé au bout du carnet. L’histoire d’un surfeur qui attend sa vague est née.

Je l’ai montré à deux trois connaissances qui l’ont bien apprécié. Et de bouche à oreille, ma petite histoire a fait son chemin. Un jour, elle est arrivé entre les mains de Julien (sérigraphe à Genève - Les Belges) qui l’a trouvée géniale et qui m’a dit : Et si on l’éditait ? À quoi j’ai répondu : À fond! Du coup on a imprimé ce petit livre. J’étais très content! Et en même temps, je trouvais dommage de l’éditer, de le vendre et d’ensuite le savoir périr sur l’étagère des quelques uns qui me l’aurait acheté. Alors je me suis tourné vers Julien et je lui ai dit que j’avais envie de faire vivre l’histoire plus loin que le livre. Pour ce faire j’avais pensé à une boîte dans laquelle il y aurait plusieurs objet dérivé du livre avec différentes fonctions. Je n’étais pas sûr de mon idée. Elle me semblait complexe à réaliser. À ma proposition, il a immédiatement répondu : "Fantastique ! " Alors on l’a fait !

The project's story

One day I took a Moleskin notebook. I drew a line through. Then I thought about what I could do with it. What it could represent. Suddenly I perceived the surface of the water. I added a surfer and smiled. A minimalist illustration with a line and a little guy, I liked it. I drew a second page, then a third, a fourth and finally I came to the end of the notebook. The story of a surfer waiting for his wave was born.

I showed it to two or three people I knew. My little story was liked... the word spread worked! One day, the story arrived to Julien (silkscreen printer in Geneva - Les Belges). He really liked it and said to me : " We could publish it ? What do you think ? " I replied : " Absolutely ! " So we printed this little book. I was very happy ! And at the same time, I thought it was a shame to publish it, sell it and then know it would perish on the shelf. So I told him that I wanted to bring the story a life, beyond the book. To do this I thought of a box in which there would be several objects derived from the book with different functions. First, I wasn't sure about my idea, but after he said again it was fantastic - SO WE DID IT !
